2011 Harley Davidson CVO Street Glide Review

Thus, Street Glide is obviously one of the most sought after bikes on the market and reached its peak in 2011 calling the CVO version tested here.

Harley Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO) division is the standard H-DS and match them with extra chrome, custom paint, many accessories and special plants Screamin Eagle high-performance power to create the ultimate range of Harley. "CVO motorcycles," says Motor Company, "set the ultimate vision of Harley-Davidson style, functionality and performance."

2011 Harley Davidson CVO Street Glide

There are four CVOs limited production for model year 2011. Eventually the top of the scale is $ 36,999 Road Glide Ultra, we recently tested, after which the Ultra Classic Electra Glide ($ 36.499). CVO Road Glide openings of more than $ 29,599 Convertible Softail.

At an MSRP $ 32,499, the Street Glide CVO is a business class ticket packers V-Twin, but it only takes a quick look at the CVO-SG to recognize the high quality - both in terms of quality of painting, chromium or the depth of the finishing details. Cher bits are everywhere, making it possible to justify spending expensive original.

Help distinguish the wheels are slipping CVO unless further in contrasting chrome shaker terrible. The 19 incher on the front is the larger diameter wheel has never been a hard bike tour, complemented with floating brake discs 300 mm and a Shaker style matching 18-inch wheel rear. A "hit and trimmed" front fender closely hugs the curve of the rim.

As is typical of CVO models, the Secretary General is painted in deep, rich chrome. Controls beautiful hands and feet are from the collection of Harley Rumble, blingy brightwork and transferred to the
sleeves, size and tip, push the fuel door, among many other places.

If you are a fan of attractive rear end, the CVO SG reversed. A pair of LED taillights are unique to vertical strip in the area between the extended saddle bags and rear fender, brake lights and turn signals on a beautifully integrated design in accordance with the sunglasses. The rear view is characterized by taste billet end caps on the exhaust pipe dual mufflers.

CVO SG is also unique in the fuel tank. And King started in a mobile 6.0 liters, but is modifiable color fill gas mounted on the right, where the fuel gauge corresponding LED on the left side. New low-profile console is accented with a unique "liquid metal" coin tank.

As expected the CVO division that lacks nothing in terms of standard accessories, including cruise control, ABS, bags and covers HD Smart Security System.

"This years theme is a great voice," said Randy Klopfer, team manager at the press presentation CVO CVO.

SG and backs this up with a stereo 100 watts per channel that provides air at not less than six speakers. Besides the typical features audio and XM Radio, the GS is equipped with an 8 GB iPod Nano (engraved with the Harley bar and shield logo) that fits into a pocket on the right. Two speakers and two tweeters dome stroke of color matched interior corridor, while the clarity and bass response is augmented by a pair of loudspeakers in a 6.5-inch fairing lowers.

All CVOs 2011 Harley OEM also provides regularly through the installation of equipment, Screamin Eagle Twin Cam 110 cubic inch engine. This fuel-injected engine that gives an extra step motor 115 pounds ft factory class. its 4000 rpm torque. It depends significantly on the 96-cubic-inch claimed 92.6 Nm at 3500 rpm. High starting torque, and a stronger clutch to handle a big motor to provide additional requirements.

Weve become big fans of the line of Harley Touring since the total review framework in 2009 and the slip road seems to be more manageable group LF. The low profile 130/60-19 front tire responds with sharper reflexes than the other large rubber FLS, and the Secretary General does well to hide its massive 852-pounds with a full tank of wet weight. Dual-piston front calipers and four standard anti-lock control can delay the strong speed.

Cavaliers Courts are assisted in the management of this large mass, with a new low profile seat located just 27.4 inches off the ground, but what is the cost to an inch of 2.0 minutes drive from the rear suspension. The same seat, with snake inserts corresponding simulated PNR is quite comfortable, but the suspension may be hit hard in irregularities. 4.6 in. travel 41mm fork has an easier time sucking big impacts. If the horizon is tilting barrel, you have to mount the hydraulic preload on the rear to get Harley claimed 32-degree angle on the basis of the right, 30 degrees on the exhaust side.

The cockpit CVO SG is a nice place to watch the miles roll in front of you. The windshield tinted 7 inches (Electra Glide) provides better protection than smaller SG, while providing an appropriate style sports. A very neutral riding position helps the rider feel completely in control and comfortable. The audio system sounds great, cruise control maintains a constant speed, and self-cancellation turnsignals work perfectly.

We are grateful to have the engine in TC110 walk around Lake Tahoe, we took a mile high, the height would have the TC96 out of breath. Throttle response is exemplary, and engine vibration is isolated from the large bucket driver in all cruising speeds, with the help of overdrive 6-speed transmission.

The Street Glide is one of our favorite Harleys, and the CVO version try to create the elements of performance, quality of finish and the luxury of giving more attractive. As a platform for passenger cars, is almost perfect, marked only by the rear suspension and a minimum storage capacity is very limited.

Adjust OEM Street Glide retails for almost $ 18,000 is the color options, which sounds like a sensible next to the MSRP of $ 32.5K CVO. But the "alpha-riders" who says Harley CVO to its customers and for which the money does not seem to be a problem, this is tarted up to the Glide to meet the comfort, luxury and exclusivity - only 3700 or so built.

2011 Harley Davidson CVO Road Glide Ultra Review

Well off the runners as they do not drown when told of the $ 35,999 MSRP of 2011 CVO Road Glide Ultra. If you try to win another 500 miles from his old KLR650 tires, maybe they are not customers of the group heads to CVO.

According to Harley, the average age of CVO is 54-55, their best gains in years. Harley CVO research reveals that customers purchase supplies $ 3,500 on average about twice the average HD OE customers in spite of the fantastic CVOs were defrauded.

As with last years CVO line-up, all CVOs in 2011 imposes a younger brother, the introduction of Screamin Eagle Twin Cam 110 cubic inch engine, hot-rodded from HD TC96 and TC103, in 2010 Harley Electra Glide Ultra Limited that we tested last year. TC103 is also a standard feature in OE 2011 Road Glide Ultra we tried last week, and also as part of a possible "Power Pak" package update any 2011 Harley-OE.

2011 Harley-Davidson CVO Road Glide Ultra

This year marks the first time there was a version of Ultra and Road Glide Harley she describes as "a super-premium Touring bike." As such, RGU gussied with all the amenities of luxury touring Harley can think of. And like all CVO, which makes an impressive sight, with custom painting chromium-rich deep and bright, and beautiful finish quality.

It a fact that if you have piles of money, you are likely to be grateful for a companion for the journey. CVO engineers apparently have learned that if the mother is not happy, nobody happy, because the RGU is perched on the seat is a place to plant a few cheeks.

The driver and passenger electrically heated, leather inserts and matching adjustable backrest. The redesigned seat also has another trick up his sleeve, having a suspended hammock-style for the rider and a spring suspension for a passenger on board under the upholstery. Passengers will also enjoy air adjustable lumbar support that can be placed in four areas in height.

Behind all the luxury is a wonderful Tour de Luxe Wrap top box with interior lighting, power port internal 12 volts, and color-matched LED brake / tail lights. The lock (and the saddle bags and ignition) is controlled remotely - all with the push of a button on the key fob bike. Carry-out luggage liners easily walk to a B & B phase, and a luggage rack Air Wing provides a place to strap on a trinket from the antique shop.

With the typical cockpit RG, CVO version adds cruise control, four-BOOM! speakers powered by a Harmon / Kardon 40-watt per channel amplifier and an 8 GB iPod nano, which automatically loads when it is stored as a messenger bag. The audio system (including XM radio and intercom) provides an interface via the iPods screen and sound system is controlled by the switches of regime. The Glide Chrome 1 inch handlebar is slightly redesigned for more comfort, and most of the son are taken internally. A three-phase charging system produces 650 watts, enough to supply all the practical stuff gadgets.

The Road Glide is distinguished by its distinctive twin headlights bow of the frame mounted fairing. This version is visually CVO inserted by Shaker Mirror Chrome wheels, 18 inches in diameter and rear, and new exhaust billet end caps with black tips. You will also notice the foot controls Rumble Collection, mirrors and saddlebag latch covers, bathed in rich, deep chrome. Trim panels for CB pod insert, admission Screamin Eagle 110 insert Tour-Pak and functionality of inserting a new cover diamond-cut pattern.

Rail Glide

First impressions are the RG Ultra physically limit the size and the luminous quality of the final result. There are a lot of stuff look at this huge machine, and everything that has a very high quality. RG fairing of mass toward the bright bold pilot on the control panel dashboard that is painted in the body. Rio red version of the dark red metallic, the rider can be seen throughout the day.

Speaking to soften the stools daily RGU seems entirely to the task - this could be based on motorcycledom cushiest combo, made more enjoyable by the heating elements. The new shape of the handle is a comfortable range, and also includes support for the Road Tech GPS navigation system juice 660. A small ergonomic insoles small apartment is the angle the top of the audio display. I also had trouble navigating the iPod menu, but I have no doubt that it would become second nature after more miles.

Service units is said to scale in the full 943 pounds of fuel, and it certainly feels when you lift the bikes chrome side stand. Rubber mounting handlebars and a lot of weight is brought up (dress and top box) come together to service units was a bit heavy at 5 km / h - the Great Plain is frightening to walking speeds.

But once underway, the new CVO appears to shed some of its considerable weight, and folds neatly into the corners better than you think. Air conditioning to adapt to shocks RGU various charges, up to 1360 lbs GVWR her. Harley says one angle available in 33 degrees (30 degrees to the line side) because many cruises.

Carry all the weight down to the speed is quite a powerful braking system. Triple Brembo four piston provide a strong bite of a trio of 300 mm rotor, with smooth power progresses in a linear fashion with the original system ABS threshold relatively high.

Performance Screamin Eagle TC110 was reduced due to the elevation of more than a mile high around the Lake Tahoe, where we are headed. But despite all half-ton husky TC110 never felt out of breath. Throttle response is flawless, ultra smooth throttle closed a van. The rubber-mounted V-Twin is exceptionally smooth on the road, with only the perceptible vibration at idle. The addition of a high torque motor ensures that the large bucket with ease.

The units of service by the EPA estimated 47 mpg highway (32 mpg in town), so 280 miles on a full tank 6.0 liter can be achieved on the road.

Wind tunnel tests were used to design a new street corner for 16-inch Glide windshield smoked, and found the new design offers excellent protection for its size. Flaps on the engine guard force more air around the rider greater protection from the elements.

Suspension control is quite good, especially when the back is only 3.0 inches to work, with a nominal value, which helps to achieve a low-ish 29.5-inch seat height. Dunlop D408/407 dual-compound tires grip as well as the expectations of a more satisfying life of the Centre durable compounds.

2011 Harley-Davidson CVO Road Glide Ultra

Our least favorite aspect of the RGU is the feeling of rubber on the front. Comments on the rubber handle is isolated indirectly, and this is referred to the speed of parking and quick steering inputs. I was in the back of the units to return to the CVO Street Glide, and the GS offers through their comments safest low-profile tires, and less weight on top of your small dome and the absence of a Tour Pak.

Verdict

Well, the Road Glide Ultra will not appeal to all - the price guarantees, although his style is not so. In fact, as all heads of veterinary services, the production numbers are limited - limited service units to about 3,000 units (regardless of the fact that any model would gain the ability to sell units annually 3K).

2011 Harley-Davidson CVO Road Glide Ultra

Well bet that even in todays economy sluggish, Harley will have no trouble finding customers for the 3000 machine exclusive tourism. After all, is the first time there was a Road Glide Ultra be given to treatment and CVO CVO customers really appreciate stands out from the crowd.

There are so many things to like here, even luxurious and improved practices to pamper and soothe various road trips of each tranche. And the risk of laboring the point, the quality of finish on this is impeccable and each CVO. And everything is backed by a two-year warranty

CVO Harley riders alpha repeats to describe customers , always on top. For those who want to make a bold statement, and the dollars to afford it, the CVO Road Glide Ultra is an elegant and distinctive way to lead a parade.
